Rain, rain go away!

It's unbelievable the amount of rain we continue to get. With all the flooding in Minot and Bismarck...and the rain continues. Just yesterday we got almost 3 inches and another inch during the night. I just returned from a walk and it looks like the reservoir is up at least a foot from last week.
No Ava Skye yet but if she doesn't go into labor today they will induce her tomorrow if Amy wants to. Lots of flooding down in Iowa also. Had to take 77 south of Sioux City when I went down last week due to part of I-29 being closed. Even though I went down with the hopes of seeing my new granddaughter, I enjoyed spending time with Amy and Angela. Also got to go out to eat at Famous Dave's on Father's Day with Tim, Amy, Angela, Ben and Ashley. Went down to Lincoln on Weds. to pick up Angela and went out to Chipotles with Ben and Angela. Ran over a tarp strap on the way to Lincoln, the hook punctured the tire so ended up getting a new tire.
Will be heading down again on Weds.

Thinking Back...

This morning was just wonderful! Just cool enough for a sweatshirt but sunny. Of course now it is 80 degrees out so I am glad I went for my walk this morning. I took the camera along in case I saw any great fall shots and walked the river road, which I haven't done since last fall. This summer it was closed off due to the flooding. When I got to the spillway I thought it would be fun to get some "after" shots and then compare them with what it looked like at the flood stage. (I'll try and get the similar shots side by side but I'm never quite sure where the pictures will end up)

Over the top

Well, it finally went over the top of the spillway. Before the water was just lapping over but today it is flowing over the edge. It's official history, never before happened since the dam was built in 1954. We also went out to Spiritwood Lake to check out the cabin even though the road is still under water they are letting you drive over it. The water is very high. I think it was almost this high when Mom and Dad first bought the cabin.

Only other thing of note is that we are moving things around and out of the basement so we can get drain tile put down. Quite a lot of work and expense but hopefully will be well worth the effort. Will hopefully be able to talk to the guy today and set up a time.

Yesterday we had snow and rain and today is mostly cloudy and only around 40 degrees but we are going to take a load out to the landfill to we can get the garage cleared out. A water problem is always a good time for doing a much needed spring cleaning.
