The Dragonfly Phenomenon

I don't know what is with all the dragonflies this year but they are crazy! Last night when I was sitting in report at work, I looked out the window and there were just hundreds of them darting around. When one of my friends came back from her break she said her husband had taken a picture of all the dragonflies in there front yard. I guess they were just solid out there. I don't know what has caused such an increase in them but these "miniature helicopters" are beautiful and they eat mosquitoes so I'm all for that.

My Resolve

Ever since I started working 12 hour night shifts I have not been able to get a routine down, so my exercise and devotions have pretty much fallen by the wayside. I always complain I'm so tired and have no motivation to do anything. Well, this is going to stop! NO MORE EXCUSES, NO MORE PITY PARTIES! The truth is I have just been lazy and using work as an excuse. I am almost always up by 2 pm and that gives me plenty of time for a half hour of exercise and devotions and still have time for a shower and to eat supper.
So here's the deal. If any of you friends or family out there start hearing me complain about not having the time for exercise, remind me about my resolve and tell me to quit complaining and start getting on with the program.
I've had a good start so far. Went for a 4 mile walk with Curt down to the marina on Sabbath, drove out to the cabin and went swimming on Sunday, took a 5 mile bike ride yesterday and just got back from about a 2 and a half mile walk. I feel happy and excited about getting control of my life again. The devil knows that sticking to a program has always been hard for me and losing weight has been a struggle for years. So I am telling him to get out of my mind and I am going to win this struggle!
I figure if I mix up the exercise routine with walking, riding my bike, a little "Dancing With the Stars" and Irish dancing it should stay fun and interesting.

The LasVegas Strip

My favorite experience on the Strip was the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel. I took several videos of different ones but unfortunately can't put them on here. They were beautiful. The conservatory at the Bellagio was also amazing. We did a quick trip through a few of the hotels and only saw the outside of most of most of them but they are something else. LasVegas is certainly a place that everyone should experience at least once because it is hard to explain and pictures don't do it justice.

2010 Star Trek Convention

For Curt's 50th birthday I told him we would go to the Star Trek convention in LasVegas. It was quite an experience and I will let the pictures speak for themselves. You know what they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words."

Grand Canyon- North Rim

My favorite part of the trip was going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It was so beautiful! We started out in Las Vegas in 106 degrees and by the time we got to the North Rim it was 68 degrees. We had rented a Mustang convertible so had a fun drive up there, with occassional bursts of rain in which we had to put the top up.

Viva Las Vegas!

Sunday we returned from our trip to Las Vegas, NV. It was quite a trip! But not really thinking about going back anytime soon. We did have a good time though. I'll start with our Fremont Street experience. This area is where the original casinos started so it still has a little of the old time feel with real nickels coming out when you cash out on the nickel machines. For three blocks the street is covered with a huge movie screen where shows are projected after dark. They have artists, magicians, people dressed as celebrities and such. If I ever went back I think I would choose to stay at a hotel there because the food is much cheaper. Here's some pictures.
