What the heck should I eat?
Amy sent me a link to a docuseries called the "Broken Brain" by Dr. Mark Hyman. Even though I didn't watch every episode, I did watch enough to get the hint that sugar is evil and addicting and bad, bad for your body. Not that that was all new news, but it was what I needed to do something about my eating habits. And sugar is not the only thing, but gluten also. So no bread, pasta, donuts, etc. I know my body is God's temple and I want to be a good steward and take care of it. So while we were on vacation to see the grandkids in North Platte, I read his book, "Food: What the heck should I eat". Even some of the foods I thought were good like beans and oatmeal are not the best for us and fat is not our enemy as long as it's the right kind. So lots of new information. So Curt and I decided to give it a try. As of yesterday, we are on a 10 day detox to get gluten and sugar out of our systems. It is really hard for me not to eat fruit and my toast with breakfast, I really miss that. But hopefully it will get my body burning all that abdominal fat and I will feel and look great!! Oh, and my coffee is also a hard thing to give up. But I'm getting through my caffeine headache today but just seem a bit sluggish. I'm sure it will get better as time goes on. My starting weight was 196.4#. I will be so excited when I drop below 190! I haven't been for a couple years now. My goal is 150#. Now that I haven't seen in 30 years! I know I can do this with God's help.
