The Makeover

Maybe it started with cleaning the windows, or the visit to a friend's house that could be straight from "Midwest Living", or watching home makeover shows at night. Whatever it was I decided to do something with my bedroom. So I started moving, vacuuming, dusting and shopping and now I have a bedroom that makes me smile when I look into the room. Amazing what small things can do to give you a little lift. But then there's the downside. What to do with the junk that you just cleaned out from your room. (Sorry, Jeremy, you got the desk in your room now) So then there is more cleaning and rearranging and the more one cleans the more one finds to clean and I got discouraged and sat down and read a book.
I feel like that with life in general, there's so much I feel like I should be doing and wondering if I'm ever doing enough for God. You try and do what's right but know that you are so far from where you probably should be that sometimes you think it's just easier to sit down and read a book. Of course, that is just what the devil wants us to do. As I was writing this the verse came to mind, "My yoke is easy and My burden is light", so I guess I better not get bogged down with doubts and worries. God knows our needs and our hearts and we just need to rest in His arms and know that all will be well if we just trust in Him.

Autumn messages from "Dove"

I got hooked on Dove dark chocolate lately and bought a bag of Autumn ones so I thought I would share some of the messages with you:
1. Sit around a bonfire and watch the stars
2. Watch the Harvest moon rise
3. Collect 10 different kind of tree leaves
4. Go for a hayride with friends
5. Get lost walking in a corn maze
6. Press fall leaves in your favorite book
I hope you find joy in at least one of these!

Don't do windows

I have never been one for keeping my windows washed but the other day I couldn't stand my dirty picture window any longer so I went outside and tackled the job with Curt on the inside washing so I could tell where the streaks were. Afterwards I washed the screens and when all was said and done you could hardly tell there was glass there. It was a beautiful sight! And I wondered why had I not done this long ago. I've often felt keeping windows clean is an impossible task but when one is looking through sparkling clean windows the effort seems all worthwhile for that moment. The verse came to mind where Paul talks about seeing through a glass darkly in 1 Corinthians 13, when I was looking through clean windows, I was reminded how the Holy Spirit helps us see situations in a new light if we just take time to listen.
Who knows maybe one of these days I'll tackle the other windows, but I wouln't hold my breath.
