Finding my roots
A couple years ago some relatives relayed the information that the Toay family may have come from Cornwall, England and had first settled in Mineral Point, Wisconsin as lead miners. So being interested in finding out more about the history, Curt and I made a trip there for the Cornish Festival. I found Mineral Point to be a very charming town of about 2600 people. Many of the old homes have been renovated and are beautiful, some large Victorian style homes others more simple and made of limestone. The businesses on main street (High Street) are still in the original stores. Many different artists have their businesses there, pottery making, woolen articles, glass blowing, stained glass... There are a good selection of eating places. The Shake Rag Alley offers classes in a variety of art forms. The Pendarvis area is full of area history. Many of the local farmers offer organic fruits and vegetables. And the landscape is beautiful with tree covered hills, especially beautiful in the fall. I could easily fall in love with this place and stay there for good. I hope to return some day, maybe a trip with the women folk. I think you would all enjoy it.

I vacationed in Southern WI last year and loved it too. Such a beautiful part of the country, with wonderful people.

I'm glad you got to go take in some family history. That would be neat.
